Our Green Process

Reduce, Reuse & Recycle is standard operating procedure at Deerfield Designs. We're situated in the Mad River Valley, deep in the heart of Vermont's Green Mountains, and we're dedicated to preserving the majestic beauty and natural resources that surround us.

From Dirt to Dirt

Our process reduces waste, removes toxic chemicals from the process, and offers high quality organic fibers as an eco-chic alternative. From dirt to dirt, with a small detour in between as your favorite T-shirt, sweatshirt, baseball cap, tote bag, or polo.

Reusable Screens Saves resources We reduce waste by maintaining a sizable inventory of silk screens for our customers to re-print orders using existing artwork. Old screens are "reclaimed" using safe, biodegradble solvents to remove the old emulsion and prepare the screen for new artwork. The extra work is worth it!

Compostable Inks PVC & Phalate Free Traditional screen printing inks contain toxic chemicals that are unhealthy for you and and the planet. We use inks that are free from toxic chemicals like PVC, Phalate, and heavy metals. When your organic T-shirt finally wears out, the ink will compost safely into the dirt.

Organic Cotton Sustainable Agriculture Conventional farming of cotton is responsible for 25% of global insecticide use, and over 10% of global pesticide use. Five of the top nine pesticides used on cotton in the U.S are known carcinogens. We're part of the solution, bringing organic cotton apparel into the mainstream.

Reuse & Recycle Boxes Saves Resources In most cases, we ship your order in the same box it arrived in from the textile company. It may not be fancy, but it reduces corrugated cardboard waste by 50%. We encourage you to reuse them again! Remember, boxes that we can't reused can be recycled.

Non-Toxic Cleaners Safe Solvents We clean our screens and squeegees with safe, biodegradble, non-toxic cleaning agents. Our screen reclamation process utilizes heavily diluted acid, "haze remover", and a biodedradble degreasing agent that meet strict California environmental safety codes.

Less Paper Waste Saves Resources Recycling is great, but using less is even better. The digital age offers us great opportunities to reduce paper waste. We're doing our part to reduce deforestation by emphasizing communication via email and our website.
